Ready to chastise the american invaders

There are 54 recognized distinct ethnic groups in Vietnam and each is justifiably proud of its unique cultural identity, language and traditions.

To the outside world the ethnic groups of Vietnam have collectively been referred to as the Montagnards , a French definition meaning 'Mountain People'. However, this term does not accurately include all the various peoples defined as minority ethnic groups, and the French term is considered a pejorative definition by most of the ethnic people.

The commonly preferred generic term to define these mountain ethnic people in the propaganda text of the time was the People of Tay Nguyen . This more or less translates as the people of the western highlands and includes all of the various ethnically diverse groups.
