  • OUR
    JOURNEY

The Dogma journey begins in Hanoi, early 1990’s, amidst the newly-burgeoning crowd of young contemporary artists, enjoying fresh creative freedoms in the early years of Doi Moi. This activity took place in a still quiescent Hanoi, lakes, trees, old streets, cramped urban life, lived on the sidewalks, all under the gaze of a revolving theatre of propaganda posters. These posters were artworks in themselves, striking the eye with bold colors, clear and urgent calls to action, the very essence of mobilization.
  • OUR
    VISION

Our vision is uncomplicated: to be a sustainable private sector entity; that is self-funding; supporting the history and development of Vietnam’s visual arts.
  • OUR OBJECTIVES

Our objectives will bend, like bamboo, to reflect changing opportunities, challenges, and priorities. In the immediate term we focus on Conservation (of archive), Promotion (of visual arts), Presentation (of Vietnam’s visual arts), Development (of the archive and the community in which it thrives).

A word from Dogma founder: Dominic Scriven
Dogma was thus born with a twin focus: the history, aesthetics, production, politics of propaganda art; and an engagement with the country’s new young visual art talent.
