Crafting a Message: A Permanent Collection Exhibition
Past exhibition
Overview
Featuring posters, photographs, newspapers, and stamps, the exhibition showcases the range of mediums and artistic techniques used in Vietnamese socialist and anti-imperial cultural production between 1945 and 1985.
This exhibition is an opportunity for the Dogma Collection to display works of various styles and media - from woodcut to paint to photography - to consider the ways each uniquely expresses messages of unity, empowerment, and resistance to the public. Set in the context of a tumultuous period in Vietnamese history, “Crafting a Message” seeks to show that what underlied the urgent political campaigns of these materials were careful deliberations and an artistic ‘craftsmanship.’
During the open period of the exhibition, Dogma Collection will welcome students and members of the public to reflect on the themes within the show. Dogma will also announce fellowships, publications, and public programs related to the exhibition themes over the next few months.
The exhibition opens from Wednesday to Sunday from 10 AM - 6 PM, from 15 September 2024 to 10 January 2025.
