Battlefield Lens Collection
This collection features vintage prints of the Indochina Wars that spanned close to three decades in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, captured through the lens of internationally renowned names such as David Douglas Duncan, Don McCullin, Tim Page, Larry Burrows, Philip Jones Griffiths and lesser known photographers from Vietnam and around the world. Through their photographs, we witness the French War, the battle for independence by Viet Minh nationalists against French colonisers; the American War, as it was called by the Vietnamese, waged by the South Vietnamese regime and its U.S ally against communist North Vietnam, spilling over into neighbouring Cambodia and Laos. Some of the most iconic images of the 20th century have emerged from these wars.
Alongside some of these emblematic photographs will be the less familiar images taken by North Vietnamese Army photographers depicting the wars from their vantage point.
